Your Guide to Logos and Icons on Our Packaging, and What They Mean

our Guide to Logos & Icons on Our Packaging, & What They Mean

Trust is earned. Our commitment to total food transparency means it’s not enough for us to just tell you the ingredients in our products are organic and non-GMO—it’s on us to prove it. Third-party certifications hold every brand and product that bears them accountable to clearly defined standards. When you see their logos and icons on our packaging, you can feel confident our products are what we say they are, guaranteed.

Certified Organic Logos

Both the Canada Organic and USDA Organic logos represent the same standards, proving products that bear them have the right to claim they’re Certified Organic. Certified organic products must be made with 95%+ certified organic ingredients (and any ingredient that is available in a certified organic version must be certified organic). Ingredients must be free of synthetic additives, including pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes, and may not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering.Every product we make is certified organic. That means you’ll find one of these logos on every One Degree Organics package (based on the country the product is sold).

QAI Certified Organic Logo

Ensuring the ingredients in a product are certified organic is only a start—for a product to be truly organic, the production process matters, too. Quality Assurance International (QAI) verifies that certified organic standards have been met at every step of the product supply chain, from ingredient processing to food production.Because QAI Certified Organic is an international standard, you’ll find this logo on all One Degree Organics products.

Non-GMO Project Verified Logo

Unlike crop varieties developed through selective breeding, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are created in a laboratory using genetic modification or genetic engineering techniques, and/or other biotechnologies. With concerns about the potential health and environmental impact of GMOs, and in the absence of GMO labeling regulations in North America, the Non-GMO Project offers a third-party non-GMO verification and labeling standard that gives consumers the power of choice. Products that bear the Non-GMO Project Verified logo do not contain genetically modified organisms or ingredients derived from GMOs.Every One Degree Organics product is Non-GMO Project Verified, and you’ll find a version of this logo on every package.

BioChecked Non Glyphosate Certified Logo

Glyphosate (known by the trade name Roundup) is the most commonly used herbicide in the world. Although glyphosate cannot be used on certified organic crops, the BioChecked Non Glyphosate Certified logo certifies that finished products have been third-party laboratory tested and contain no glyphosate residue that may have come from drift or other sources.

Glyphosate Free Icon

We also created our own Glyphosate Free icon to make our stand against glyphosate unmistakable. You’ll find the BioChecked Non Glyphosate Certified logo—and our own Glyphosate Free icon—on all One Degree Organics products.

Certified Gluten-Free Logos

Many One Degree Organics products—including our brown rice and corn cereals, all our granolas, two of our flours, and all our oats—are certified gluten-free. Gluten-free products must contain less than 20 ppm of gluten—the level considered safe for most people with celiac disease—to comply with labeling regulations in Canada and the US. Depending on the product, we use one of two certifying bodies: NSF in the US, and the Gluten Free Certification Program, which issues the Canadian Celiac Association seal as well as the Beyond Celiac seal used in the US.You’ll find one of these three gluten-free certification logos on any One Degree Organics product that is certified gluten-free.

Certified Vegan Logo

Products that bear the Certified Vegan logo do not contain animal products or byproducts and have not been tested on animals. But it’s not only the ingredients that make a product able to be Certified Vegan—the production process also matters. For a product to be Certified Vegan, production must be completely vegan. Or, when vegan and non-vegan products are produced on shared machinery, steps must be taken to thoroughly clean and sanitize all surfaces, vessels, utensils, and equipment to minimize cross-contamination between production cycles. You’ll find the Certified Vegan logo on most One Degree Organics products. (While all our products are plant-based, a select few are sweetened with honey).

Kosher Seals

To earn a kosher certification, products must be prepared in accordance with kosher laws (Jewish religious dietary laws) and approved by a kosher auditor as fit for consumption by observant Jews. Depending on the product, we use one of two certifying bodies: Kosher Check and Orthodox Union. One Degree Organics products that are kosher certified will include the appropriate version of the Kosher Check or Orthodox Union seals.

Whole Grains Council Stamp

Products earn the Whole Grains Council stamp when they contain a minimum of 8 grams (a half serving) of whole grain. But the stamp doesn’t stop there—it also shows exactly how many grams of whole grain ingredients are in every serving of the product. Look for the per portion number on the bilingual stamp, or the per serving number on the English-only stamp. You’ll find the Whole Grains Council Stamp on every One Degree Organics product that meets or exceeds the 8 gram whole grain minimum per serving.

#4 LDPE Recyclable Logo

Soft plastic packaging that includes the #4 LPDE recyclable logo is made of low-density polyethylene, which is recyclable where facilities exist, either curbside or at specialized recycling depots. One Degree Organics’ breads are #4 LDPE recyclable. (If your community doesn’t offer curbside pickup for this plastic, try your grocery store—many accept bags like these for recycling).

Whether you need assurance our certified organic oats, cereals, and granolas are gluten-free or you want to know how many grams of whole grains are in a slice of our breads, look for the logos and icons on our packaging when you see our products in store.
