How to Make Oat Milk at Home

The secret is definitely out when it comes to oat milk. Now arguably the most popular plant-based milk, you don’t have to buy this nut-free, gluten-free milk at the store. It’s easy to make oat milk at home with this simple how-to! This simple recipe produces a light-tasting, creamy vegan milk that goes well with almost anything (including your favorite bowl of cereal or granola!).

Our One Degree Organics Rolled Oats are the perfect oats to use to make oat milk at home. This recipe is so simple and quick, you’ll have a glass of silky, delicious oat milk in less time than it takes to run to the store!

Ingredients

1 cup One Degree Organics Sprouted Rolled Oats
4 cups ice-cold water (or 3 cups water and 1 cup ice)
2 Tbsp organic maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla or vanilla bean paste
Pinch of salt

Directions

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 20 seconds.

Strain through a sieve or use a milk bag to ensure the milk is smooth.

Chill, shake and enjoy.

Tips

I love making my own oat milk at home, but it can get a little slimy if you aren’t careful. Here are a few tricks I’ve learned that will help you make oat milk that’s just as good as store-bought:
Keep the water cold. Do not blend your oats for too long. (20 seconds is all you need!). And if you use a milk bag to strain your oat milk, be careful not to squeeze it too much.
